Moments of Mediatation

Updated: Aug 27, 2018

Meditation for young adults.

A three stage introductory course to meditation. This is a fairly basic course in order to introduce you to meditation and various simple techniques to get you stated. The intent ion is that amongst these practices you will find one that agrees with you and hopefully become the clue that will guide you on your path.

1. Guided Meditation and Yoga Nidra

Guided Meditation is a modern phenomenon whereas yoga nidra is ancient. They are an easier way to start. It is the best known technique to induce complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation.

Yoga Nidra has so many benefits, because it releases stress and tension the whole personality is given the opportunity to transform from within. The outcome is a more relaxed and natural feeling of well- being. Yoga nidra has the potential to relax the entire body, increase knowledge, memory, creativity and to transform one's nature.

There is no way to practice Yoga Nidra incorrectly. Whatever your experience, it will still work – even if you fall asleep

2. Loving kindness Mindfulness Meditation

Mindfulness Meditation and loving kindness is an adaptation from traditional Buddhist meditation practices.

Mindfulness meditation is the practice of intentionally focusing on the present moment, accepting and non-judgmentally paying attention to the sensations, thoughts, and emotions that arise. Then one generates in his/ her mind and heart feelings of kindness and benevolence. Start by developing loving-kindness towards yourself, then progressively towards others and all beings

The more you practice this meditation, the more joy you will experience. It is beneficial both for selfless and self-centred people, and it will help increase your general level of happiness. You cannot feel loving-kindness and depression (or any other negative feeling) at the same time.

3. Self-Inquiry in Yogic Meditation

There is not one type of meditation which is “Yogic Meditation”, so here it is meant the several meditation types taught in the yoga tradition. This meditation is done in two stages.

In first step we would focusing the attention on the “spot between the eyebrows” (called by some “the third eye” or “ajna chakra”). The attention is constantly redirected to this point, as a means to silence the mind.

In the second stage self-Enquiry is taken up. It is the English translation for the Sanskrit term atma vichara whichmeans to “investigate” our true nature. This practice is very simple, but also very subtle., it may sound very abstract

The “third eye meditation”, which is simple and yields results fairly quickly. This meditation is very powerful in bringing inner freedom and peace.
